The Afterlife Obsession of Hatshepsut – Wood Engraving

This 2-panel engraving, created for the “Edge of Love” exhibit at the Strychnin Gallery in Berlin shows the female Pharaoh Hatshepsut side-by-side. On the left, she is shown alive and ruling. On the right she, her body is a corpse and her soul has passed on to her afterlife, in which she was both in love, and obsessed with. I recently received my new wood engraving piece called “The Afterlife Obsession of Hatshepsut” back from my boyz at BlackBooks Stencils and had it framed up. I teamed up with BlackBooks Stencils last week to create this 12x36in. plywood engraving to send out to a friend in Japan. Thanks to Scott from Super 7 FL for hand delivering it! I’m all about the laser cut engravings these days. Such a great way to go from a digital file to something so tangible and special.
