“Tiger & Dragon” is a 30x24in. archival print and poured resin glaze on wood created for the “Beast of the East” exhibit at Sake Bomb in Downtown St. Petersburg, FL.

When I was in Zhangzhou China last year I heard a story about people in rural villages betting on fights between cats and snakes. (Similar to illegal cockfights) These disturbing reenactments were supposed to represent the epic battles between the mythological Chinese dragon and fearless, ancient tigers. I thought this story would make for an interesting piece and took some liberties to show a king cobra to take it a step further.

Original artwork is currently available upon request and paper prints will be available soon.

Nothing is more refreshing after a long day than a warm glass of rattlesnake whiskey! This piece was inspired by a trip to Thailand where I bought a bottle of cobra whiskey from a market in Bangkok. The guy told me “It make you strong like man” I want to be “strong like man,” So I got some. I kept it on my desk for a while and decided that it was bad luck, so I stuffed it into a friends desk when he wasn’t looking one day. Hope he’s still alive.

Also, and interesting fact about the The Gadsden flag (Don’t Tread on Me): During the mid 1700′s it had been the policy of Britain to send convicted criminals to America, so Benjamin Franklin suggested that they thank the British by sending rattlesnakes to England.

This shirt is coming soon to a new apparel company called Saulvation.

“Lucifer” was created for the ‘Gods & Monsters’ exhibit here at Pale Horse Gallery and is available as a 36×48 in. framed archival canvas print. $800. Please inquire for purchasing details.

This image depicts Lucifer as a woman and God’s most loyal lover and pays homage to the masterworks of Alphonse Mucha.

“One of the most amazing images of love that I know is Persian—a mystical Persian representation of Satan as the most loyal lover of God. You will have heard the old legend of how, when God created the angels, he commanded them to pay worship to no one but himself; but then, creating man, he commanded them to bow in reverence to this most noble of his works, and Lucifer refused—because, we are told, of his pride.

However, according to this Moslem reading of his case, it was rather because he loved and adored God so deeply and intensely that he could not bring himself to bow before anything else. And it was for that that he was flung into Hell, condemned to exist there forever, apart from his love.”

- Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth
